早在1981年，德国海外建筑运营管理局彩钢大桥就首次进入中国金山石化厂，至今状况良好。

由此可见，它具有很好的使用寿命。但由于成本高、工艺复杂，我国普遍采用热镀锌桥（锌层厚度大于或等于65um），其工艺简单，成本低于当时的彩钢。随着我国粗放型经济的发展，追求量的变化，简单的桥梁式生产模式，高回报，吸引了数十万制造商前来制造，其中大部分是手工作坊。恶性的低价竞争可以从第一家厂商获得的价格开始，现在以五折或三折的价格销售，甚至很多价格连成本价都无法保证。制造商还通过直接降低铁皮和锌层的厚度来牺牲产品的强度和使用寿命。可见，许多桥梁在施工过程中都受到了腐蚀，出现了大肚皮。

另外，随着我国环境保护力度的加大，传统热镀锌桥梁二次镀锌成本需要再次提高，使得产品质量非常不可控。彩钢板是由镀锌钢板经表面化学处理后，经二次滚涂和二次烘烤固化而成。它也是在连续生产线上生产的，所以又称彩涂钢板卷。彩钢板不仅具有机械强度高、易成型的钢材性能，而且具有良好的装饰性和耐腐蚀性。彩钢板是一种在国际上备受推崇的新型材料。
