目前,彩涂板最常用的环氧底漆是以双酚A为基础的E-06或E-03环树脂,其配方与早期的主要区别在于其二氧化钛含量低,使用安全剂。使用效果好,但价格高。
随着技术的不断进步,彩涂板的生产线速度越来越快,涂料的固化时间,即在固化炉中的停留时间趋于缩短,因为生产线的速度取决于涂料的固化时间。如果采用炉体或热源的增加来减少底漆的固化时间,会增加彩涂单元的成本,这是不经济的。因此,有必要提高底漆的反应速率。此外,还应考虑漆膜离开固化炉后的柔韧性。当底漆通过后续的导向辊时,不充分的固化涂层将被拉下并落在辊上。为了克服这一问题,在环氧底漆中加入脲醛树脂。降低柔韧性不显著,但用更为昂贵的三聚氰胺甲醛树脂代替脲醛树脂是不划算的。

In order to overcome this problem, urea formaldehyde resin will be added to the epoxy primer. The reduction of flexibility is not significant, but it is not very cost-effective to replace urea formaldehyde resin with melamine formaldehyde resin which is more expensive.
In order to reduce the cost of raw materials, the content of titanium dioxide in the primer is lower than before. In order to improve the construction performance of primer at a higher production line speed, the viscosity of primer should be reduced, but this will increase the problem of pigment deposition, especially strontium chromate. Reducing the distribution of pigment in the upper layer of opaque primer will produce a dark color primer layer, which makes it more difficult to mix bright colors. In order to overcome this problem, anti settling agent needs to be added to the formula, which includes hydrophobic pyrolysis silica. It not only helps to prevent settling, but also helps the rust resistance of epoxy primer.
When the epoxy primer is used with the polyvinylidene fluoride finish, the finish must be painted. Special care should be taken because fluoropolymers, if they contain 70% of the base material, will penetrate ultraviolet light. Therefore, this kind of coating must be carefully matched with pigments to block the transmission of ultraviolet rays, otherwise it will arrive at the primer and cause pulverization, resulting in subsequent interlayer adhesion problems. A special primer based on epoxy and phenolic resin has been prepared for the application of polyvinylidene fluoride finish, so as to improve the performance of the primer against "acid rain" environment.
For the substrate of color coated plate, in addition to the hot-dip galvanized steel plate, some alternative substrates can be used, such as zinc aluminum alloy substrate. For this, it is required to increase the amount of strontium chromate in the primer formula to maintain good corrosion resistance, especially around the exposed cutting edge in the post-processing.
